Description
The Gold Rimmed Surgeon (Acanthurus glaucopareius) is a stunning surgeonfish, easily recognized by its elegant body shape and distinctive golden edging. Active and graceful, it spends much of its time grazing on algae, making it both a practical and eye-catching addition to a reef aquarium.
A large, mature aquarium of at least 125 gallons is required, with strong flow and long swimming areas to accommodate its active lifestyle. Only one tang should be kept per tank unless introduced together in very large systems, as territorial disputes can occur.
Their diet should be primarily algae-based, including marine seaweed and algae such as nori and spirulina, supported with high-quality herbivore preparations. Occasional supplements of mysis shrimp or krill provide extra nutrition. Regular algae feedings are essential to boost immunity, minimize aggression, and maintain vibrant coloration.
The Gold Rimmed Surgeon is available now at Ocean in a Box, offered at the best price for your reef aquarium.
