Description
The Lipstick Tang (Indian) (Naso lituratus) is a stunning algae-grazing surgeonfish, admired for its unique facial markings and graceful swimming. Constantly active, it plays a valuable role in controlling algae growth while adding vibrant color and movement to a reef aquarium.
A large, mature aquarium of at least 125 gallons is recommended, with strong water flow and long swimming runs to accommodate their active nature. It’s best to keep only one tang per tank unless housed in very large systems and introduced at the same time to minimize aggression.
Their diet should be rich in marine-based seaweed and algae such as nori or spirulina, supported with quality herbivore preparations. Occasional supplements of mysis or krill add variety and nutrition. Regular algae feedings are key to boosting immunity, reducing aggression, and enhancing their vivid colors.
The Lipstick Tang (Indian) is available now at Ocean in a Box, offered at the best price for your reef aquarium.
