Description

The Long Horned Cowfish (Lactoria cornuta) is a striking and unusual marine species, easily recognized by its horn-like projections and unique box-shaped body. Cowfish require a mature system with stable water parameters and should be housed in a spacious aquarium of at least 125 gallons. Provide open swimming areas along with plenty of rockwork for grazing and shelter. Due to their delicate nature, they should not be kept with overly aggressive tank mates.

Their diet should be varied, consisting of marine-based algae and seaweed (nori/spirulina), supplemented with quality herbivore preparations and meaty options such as mysis shrimp or krill. Frequent algae feedings help maintain their health, boost immunity, and keep their colours vivid.
